Squash in Jordan started in the seventies with the establishment of King Hussein Sports City. Its 4 courts served as an outlet for the elite squash enthusiasts. It was in 1979, with the creation of the first Jordan Squash Federation, that squash had been transformed from a recreational past-time activity to a competitive sport, attracting young boys and girls.
From the outset, the Jordanian national teams and players have moved to the forefront of high-level squash, not only on a regional pan Arab level but also on the prestigious Asian level and the world at large. Now, more and more squash courts are being built which are kept busy by increasing numbers of players of all ages. The continuous relentless support of HRH prince Al-Hasan Bin Talal, one of the most active squash enthusiasts in Jordan has proven invaluable in helping promote and develop the game.
The Jordan Squash Federation has taken it upon itself to elevate squash in Jordan to the next level. With one eye on the world ranking and the other on the Olympic Games, a youth program is now in earnest. This website is a window into squash in Jordan.
